about the project : This is the start of a photo-essay project that started in Madrid. I was there recently on a business trip and was instantly drawn the to graffiti of the city. The act of drifting through the city and finding the unexpected. Most of the graffiti in Madrid is strangely contained or preserved. The first shot is taking in an area which is on a threshold between the upper class and large prostitution area of the city. the graffii attempts to climb the fortified first level of the apartment building. The photographs and layout plus the quotes are all done by Danielle Willems in June 2010 Madrid.
